Teresa’s early education began at Sacred Heart Church. After finishing his education here, he started studying in a state school in Serbo-Croatian.
Call for service: He came to India for the purpose of service in 1929 at the age of 18 and chose Calcutta as his work center. He first joined St. Margarita School as a novice worker in Loreto. He received a revelation from the Lord Jesus: “I am here, in the midst of this longing.” From then on, his real service work started in Motijheel slum. His school started with two or three children under a tree in Motijheel slum. The beginning of his career with these two vows of teaching and service. At the same time, it is austerity to become the ‘mother’ of a sad person.
Mother’s House: In 1948, with the Pope’s permission, he began a full-fledged humanitarian work centered around a small house at 14 Creek Lane. Founded Missionaries of Charity on October 7, 1950. He founded a charity called Lower Circular Road.
Service Center: Mother started her service with only 10 associates almost empty handed. He built a ‘Shishu Bhavan’ near the Mother House, where abandoned, orphaned children find shelter. The ‘pure heart’ established in Kalighat is the absolute place of leprosy patients. He set up ashrams for lepers at Titagarh, Asansol, Delhi. Outside India, his service centers have been established in America, Australia, Japan, Russia, Poland and Yugoslavia. There are more than 460 service organizations spread all over the world. He has built 124 schools to shed light on the consciousness of languageless people. He established 220 charitable clinics for the treatment of patients.
Honors and Awards: Throughout her life, Mother Teresa has received many other awards, including the Magsaysay, the Pope’s Good Samaritan Prize, the Kennedy International Prize, the Soviet Nehruland, the Bharat Ratna, and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. He has spent money on these prizes for the poor.
End of life: On September 5, 1997, Mother Teresa passed away at the age of 7. Although she is not among the mothers today, she is still at the altar of the hearts of millions of people around the world. In the language of the poet it can be said:
